Lamma Island 南丫岛 : The Cruise to the Home of Chow Yun-Fat 周润发

Lamma Island 南丫岛

It was really nice to be back in Hong Kong for the second time.

Along with my parents to enjoy the authentic insider Hongkongers with our relatives, we had quite a special one, especially with the cruise trip to Lamma Island. We also tasted the well known restaurant with delicious roasted piglets and goose as well.

Oh ya, before I forgot to share you about the good deal I have found with Traveloka for cheap airline tickets. It is always a temptation to check on routes from Kuala Lumpur to other countries, this round with great deal on Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta flights as low as RM125.00 one way. How I wish to visit Jakarta again! Let's Go!

Back to my Lamma Island trip on the same day we arrived Hong Kong!

Before our cruise ride to Lamma Island, we had a delicious Dim Sum Buffet and ended with a bowl of bird's nest as dessert.

Eye of Hong Kong?

A short ride from our restaurant, we reached the harbour nearest to Hong Kong Observation Wheel 香港摩天輪. It is a 60-metre tall Ferris wheel located at the Central Harbour front, Central. It has 42 gondolas including one VIP Gondola with leather seats and a clear glass bottom floor. All gondolas are equipped with air conditioners and communication systems.

I always love the see Ferris wheel at any parts of the world.

And that's our cruise on the left! Thanks to Charmaine who took us for the ride! I believe that it is a luck to be able to see Lamma Island personally. Frankly speaking, we always see and heard "Lamma Island" through Cantonese HK television.

The Junk.

Charmaine told us that the junk has not been operating for many years and with recent repair, it's working again. My mom does kept one model figure at home, that's why it does look familiar to me and the junk represent Hong Kong as well.

Breezy air while amused with Hong Kong harbour view behind.

I always appreciate the world and the time I had especially during a short visit to other countries. We see lives differently when we start travelling and experience another culture.

Getting nearer to Lamma Island!

When we saw the three "joss stick", it means that we are getting nearer to the island.

The harbour port of Lamma Island for public usage.

Lamma Island indeed still keeping the tradition and custom of old fishery ancestry. It was nice to get know more about Hong Kong with old scene at Lamma Island. Everything are just calm with slower pace.

Alongside, Lamma Island has a free-spirited, multicultural vibe and is home to hipsters and creative types. Indie boutiques, craft stores and mellow cafes line Yung Shue Wan Main Street. The island’s hiking trails take in the WWII-era Kamikaze Caves and have sweeping coastal views. Locals and day-trippers unwind on Hung Shing Yeh Beach, or head to Sok Kwu Wan fishing village and its casual seafood eateries.

We were surprised with the bicycle view here!

The Hongkongers came here for cheaper seafood and tourists came here for stay. We do see quite a number of American here for holiday.

Booking for a stay at Lamma Island is easy and many to choose!

Unlike Hong Kong, it is really a small town with home and business side by side.

We met retired European stay and running their small business at Lamma Island.

And I bought some souvenirs from there too! Crafted wood as table decoration.

The famous eggies found at Lamma Island! And it's recommended!

Smell good and delicious to eat.

Wang Long Village

Where Chow Yun-Fat was born here. Well, I do not have the guts to run to his house!

We did not explore Lamma Island with vehicles, it's just by foot. Greetings from the beers seller  while walking by the small path is just random. Mom did a good shopping on teapots and souvenirs. While I look at the architecture of Lamma Island.

Well, it was nice to visit Lamma Island for a day, it's almost evening and we cruised back to the Hong Kong harbour for a nice dinner with our family.

True that I am looking forward to enjoy my trip to Taiwan this weekend while become the buyers for my customers! My little Daigou business would be much fun when we have considered customers!

Poke bowls in Kota Kinabalu would be a new type of cuisine inspired from Hawaii. Which "Poké"/poʊˈkeɪ is having diced raw fish served as either an appetizer or as a main course and it is one of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine.

Congratulation to Super Ono on their grand opening on 11th November, 2018.

The size of the actual poke bowl serving is as above.

A variety of fresh diced vegetables (side) and raw/cooked meat (salmon/tuna) for selection according to our preference.

As for the base, we could choose among white rice, brown rice, Quinoa, Seaweed Rice and Green Mix.

In fact, Vegetarian can visit Super Ono for their Poke Bowl, we only need to choose the green vegetables and protein. :)

Congratulation and it's a remarkable grand opening ceremony.

In country like Malaysia, having Lion Dances would be a norms for the Chinese during grand opening!

There's always a plan for me, especially in December. It should be a yearly event that dining together with close friendsto celebrate another good year of friendship.

It's hardly to get everyone bringing partner along to enjoy the night together. We made a reservation at The Chubs Grill which is always packed with gathering and special occasions.

Talk about the environment and surrounding at The Chubs Grill, it's cozy, suitable for wine and dine, office party, birthday party and suitable for various type of event. More over, located at Plaza Shell with convenient parking space.

We had a good meal with pasta and others. All of them taste good with special sauce, however we all agreed that the platter as follow was not a good choice as it was a bit dried. Always prefer a specific dish with fine preparation.

My friends did a surprise birthday cake for two of us that will be having our birthday in few days time.

Night Life in Hong Kong Island - Not Only "Lan Kwai Fong"兰桂坊!

Hong Kong Island

After we had our dinner near Central, it's time to go back to our hotel. But, wait a minute!

In fact, it's time to stroll around Hong Kong Island with Charmaine who willing to bring me for an insight.

We always heard about Lan Kwai Fong of Hong Kong where night life is the best place to be.

Finally I have the opportunity to experience LKF personally. Tourists like me were walking and drinking at bars and dining nearby.

Emack & Bolio's

One of the recommended Ice Cream here!

The longest escalator in Hong Kong Island.

Hollywood Road GOD Store

"... Local artist Alex Croft’s colourful mural of old townhouses seems to continuously have tourists and local Instagrammers alike hanging around seeking a snapshot. Originally a commissioned piece for lifestyle brand GOD’s store around the corner, the art is now an attraction itself. Opposite The Globe, 45-53 Graham St, Central. "- Time Out

One of the favourite spot for photography.

It's a candy shop that we have walked by.

Night scene.

And we waited for the tram to go to our hotel located at Wanchai. The tram only available at Hong Kong Island.

In fact, it could be a romantic date too. :)

That's Charmaine. :) Always a good opportunity to know more of the insight of a country when we have relatives!

View from the tram.

I love to stand at the bridge while looking at the buildings and the busy streets. Same goes to Thailand and Vietnam. If you have the chance to stand at the bridge of a busy street, you will enjoy it as well!

KK Food : Authentic Delicias Mexican Food Spotted at S7 Food Court

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Serve No Pork

It was drizzling when we had our Mexican dining days ago.

Operated by Humberto, a Mexican together with his lovely wife who happened to be a local Chinese. With good recommendation from both husband and wife, we had a "delicias" authentic Mexican comfort dinner.

The best part would be the feeling of not bloated or oily after we had majority of the menu offered.

In the other hand, 90% of the ingredients from corns to chilies were imported all the way from Mexico. Of the price they of each dish they served, you will feel that it is quite worthy.

Snacks - Pellets

The Mexican "keropok".

Delicias Mexican Food is running their business at S7 Food Court currently, not a fancy restaurant yet.

Nachos

We enjoyed the melting cheese with nachos and Salsa topping.

Taco - Grilled Beef

Imported New Zealand / Australian beef would be the perfect combination of good food.

Taco - Campo

Campo. Strips of meat with Mexican spices, stoned grilled and served with pineapple and fresh cilantro.

Burritos - Beef Fajitas

Beef Fajitas. Imported New Zealand / Australia tender beef, cooked with green/yellow bell peppers, and seasoned to the ideal point of taste.

There's always a good reason for having imported beef to be served. The meat texture is tender and easily accepted by majority of us.

Burritos - Grilled Beef

 Burritos - Al-Tierra

Al-Tierra. It is a traditional slow-roasted dish, the chicken meat was well marinated with Mexican spices. Cooked till soft and tender.

Mexican Steamed Rice

All we smell was the fragrant rice. It looks like normal white steam rice with colourful vegetable chunks. Don't be fooled with the look! Personally, I am not a rice person, as for this Mexican Steamed Rice, I will give them a thumbs up!

Quesadila

Freshly handmade wheat tortilla with deliciously melted Mozzarella cheese, served with the preferred meat dish of our choice.

Desserts - Churros with home made chocolate sauce

Homemade food are always the best food, don't you think?

Freshly made hot Churros as dessert, with sugar and cinamon powder. Chocolate sauce not sweet at all.

Sabah, Malaysia

I always say that scenery in Sabah is always catchy. "The Land Below the Wind", a state that is not advance, and yet not laid back, it is just nice.

It was quite sometimes that I have not been visiting Kundasang area, while experiencing that cold breezy air and appreciate the wonders of  our Mt. Kinabalu.

Here's a video updated at my Youtube Channel.

First stop - Nabalu Kundasang

It takes about 1 and half hour from Kota Kinabalu City to reach Kundasang area and one of the best spot to have a good photo of Mt. Kinabalu while buying some snacks and some local delish atNabalu Kundasang.

In fact, fruits and vegetable are fresh and also can be found in Kota Kinabalu City.

- Nabalu Kundasang -

A short visiting before we headed to Kinabalu Pine Resort for lunch. Lunch was delicious with local fried noodles as our choice.

- View from Kinabalu Pine Resort -

The perfect view to experience Mt. Kinabalu scene with near distance. But, the cloud covered the mountain slightly in the afternoon.

One of the best time is to see from 6.30am! Need to stay overnight to see the view next morning.

- Desa Dairy Farm -

- Desa Dairy Farm -

With 199 hectares in size of farm, while most cows are Holstein Friesian cows imported from New Zealand, the highest milk producers of all cattle breeds.

Desa is always close to our heart since age of 7, where sponsored milk by Desa was given to our primary school. They always say - "We grow with Desa milk!" (我们喝着Desa 牛奶长大的)

- Desa Dairy Farm -

Mesilau located 100km away from Kota Kinabalu City. The air is cold and we encouraged friends and family to wear sweater of thick clothes when we headed there.

- Desa Dairy Farm -

With good publicity of Desa by the locals and tourist with "Little New Zealand of Malaysia", Desa provide a range of product from milk, gelato, yogurt, pizza and more. Some of the specialties only can be tasted here at Mesilau.

As for milk and yogurt, we can purchase from supermarket from our neighbor hood.

The rain started to fall after our visiting to Desa, while on the way back to Kota Kinabalu, we did passed by Kinabalu Park while I was having my nap, therefore no photos available to show here!
